Alloy C-276 has excellent resistance to localized corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, and to both oxidizing and reducing media, thus making it suitable for a wide variety of chemical process environments, including ferric and cupric chlorides, hot contaminated media (organic and inorganic), formic and acetic acids, seawater and brine solutions.
It is one of the few materials that withstands the corrosive effects of wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide.
Scope of application
It has been widely used in chemical and petrochemical fields, such as components and catalytic systems in contact with organics containing chlorides.
This material is especially suitable for high temperature, mixed with impurities of inorganic and organic acids (such as formic acid and acetic acid), sea water corrosion environment use.
Other application fields
● Pulp and paper industries, such as decolorization and bleaching vessels ● Scrubber tower, reheater, wet steam fan in FGD system ● Equipment and components operating in acidic gas environment ● Acetic acid and acid products reactor ● Sulfuric acid condenser ● Methylenediphenyl isocyanate (MDI) Production and processing of impurity phosphoric acid
Corrosion resistance
C276 alloys are used in a variety of chemical process industries containing oxidizing and reducing media.
The high content of molybdenum and chromium makes the alloy resistant to the corrosion of chloride ion, and the tungsten element further improves the corrosion resistance.
One of the few materials in C276 that is resistant to wet chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions, the alloy has significant corrosion resistance to high concentrations of chloride solutions (e.g. ferric chloride and copper chloride).
